Great history inside this 52-page Heer Wehrpass originally issued to 18 year-old Wilhelm Preissler of Reichenberg in 1939.

Preissler's original trade was in leather craft and he worked in his father's saddle shop on the edge of town his whole life. He was an apprentice in this field with the Handwerkskammer Guild and was soon to be a sattlermeister when he was called to duty.

Preissler trained with Infantry Regiment IV and was assigned as a work orderly along side the field medics (6./San. Erf-Abt. 4). He saw and participated in over 25 battles on the Russian Front, earning him many promotions and awards. He won the War Merit Cross 2nd Class in Smolensk when he saved his Lieutenant and six other men from annihilation by Russian tanks by cleverly creating a thick smoke screen from the medical supplies he had in his bag. This earned him a field promotion as well. He fought in Minsk and Moskow and several other areas as well.

Wehrpass comes with additional paperwork, Preissler's original sleeve insignia, and a few photographs he had taken of the Russian Front which were all in the back inside pocket sleeve .
