This little time-capsule is a wonderfully rare peek into the lives of little children in the very early period of the Third Reich!

About 100+ pages, this journal/ photo-album is by the kindergarten (and 1st to 2nd grade) teacher, who gives a detailed review of the class for the year 1934.

It covers the courses and activities taught, the children's progress and certain character-traits which amused her, special projects, art lessons, field trips, etc.

The local BDM would provide baby-care for younger siblings and also help out with other things as needed.

The HJ boys (10-years and older), would come to the school at the end of the day to escort the BDM girls and toddlers home. They also participated in field trips and gym class -especially so if they had younger brothers who were HJ members and in the class. (note the photo of the older HJ boys climbing up to the top of the flag-pole-!)

It was a very family-oriented, socially-knit group which drew upon the benevolence taught to BDM and HJ (they didn't just throw grenades, shoot guns and fight all day ).

There are some actual HJ papers in the back of the album, in the pocket-sleeve, which appears to be an itinerary for a field trip, and a permission slip which needed signing for an overnight at a hostel planned over a weekend. There is also an announcement of an HJ celebration inside the journal.

It was hard to pick-out what photos to show...each page is so interesting. Anyone who is a serious student of this area...HJ, BDM or schooling inside the Reich, will find this a richly rewarding study.
